What should I check before buying used?

Request a vehicle history report, review maintenance records, and inspect tires, brakes, and interior wear. A pre-purchase inspection is worthwhile on higher-mileage vehicles.

Is the listed price negotiable?

Many dealers advertise an internet or special price. Out-the-door cost can still include doc fees, reconditioning, or add-ons — ask for an itemized quote.

Why do some listings show MSRP and savings?

Dealers sometimes publish a reference price alongside the selling price. Treat savings as advertised marketing unless the dealer confirms it in writing.

What is the difference between internet price and out-the-door price?

Internet or special price is the advertised vehicle price before tax, title, license, and dealer fees. Out-the-door (OTD) is what you actually pay to drive off the lot.

Should I get a pre-purchase inspection?

On used vehicles, especially above 60,000 miles or without a recent inspection report, a third-party PPI is a smart step. It costs a few hundred dollars and can surface issues the listing does not mention.

Is certified pre-owned worth the premium?

CPO programs add warranty coverage and a reconditioning checklist. Compare the CPO price to a similar non-CPO unit plus an extended warranty — the value depends on coverage length and what the dealer actually inspected.

How fresh are used-car listings?

Inventory changes daily. A listing on iwantcardeals.com reflects what the dealer published recently — call or submit an online inquiry to confirm the vehicle is still available before you travel.
